Sterne Agee Asset Management Products and Services
Fixed Income Management Through 20 years of thorough research and analysis, Sterne Agee Asset Management (SAAM) has earned a reputation as a premier boutique fixed income manager. We believe in paying attention to global economies, market cycles, and trends. It is our hypothesis that in studying these cycles and trends our portfolio managers can make informed decisions about the direction of the markets and therefore our clients can benefit from those movements.
Our proprietary Core Fixed Income-Intermediate strategy has been developed around our core competencies, and it is our attention to risk management that has allowed us to deliver consistently solid, risk-adjusted returns to our investors.
Additionally, we manage a Core Plus Fixed Income-Institutional strategy that provides us with additional opportunities to add value to our investor’s portfolios by increasing the investing parameters.
Equity Management At SAAM, we offer a managed equity investment strategy; known as Core Equity, that seeks to provide our clients with competitive returns while managing portfolio risk.
The strategy, employs a disciplined, multi-factor stock selection process that identifies companies that the portfolio manager believes are priced at attractive relative valuations and will deliver superior earnings performance over the next nine to eighteen months. Companies are screened for growth potential characteristics including sustainable earnings, improving fundamentals, expanding margins, and compounding return on equity. The bias of the stock selection process shifts between value and growth as dictated by market dynamics and relative performance patterns. Stock positions are then sold due to deteriorating fundamentals and/or poor relative price strength.
Holdings generally consist of 25-35 large and medium capitalization stocks included in the Russell 1000 Index. Sector weights are determined through evaluation of client’s income needs, risk tolerance, and prevailing macroeconomic conditions. The portfolio manager may use risk control strategies such as covered call writing and index option hedging to protect the value of the account.
Alternative Investment Strategies Alternative investments are typically non-correlated with traditional investment strategies and, accordingly, more and more investors are adding alternative investment strategies to their asset allocations.
SAAM manages multiple alternative investment strategies for sophisticated investors that have decided to include alternative investments within their asset allocations. |
