Birmingham, AL-March 24, 2009-After opening Texas Public Finance offices in March, 2008, Sterne Agee & Leach, Inc., has served as senior and co-managing underwriter on 39 competitive and negotiated financings totaling $1.1 billion in paramount. Notable negotiated financings include the $56.7 million Series 2008 Bexar County Certificate of Obligation issue, the $393.3 million Series 2009 Dallas ISD financing, the $75.7 million Series 2009 Northside ISD issue and most recently, Sterne Agee was a co-manager on the $442.0 million Series 2009A City of San Antonio Electric and Gas System Revenue Bonds.
Sammy Carranza has also joined Carlos Sharpless, Managing Director, and Richard Acosta, Senior Vice President, in the Texas Public Finance Group as Assistant Vice President in Houston. Mr. Carranza joins Sterne Agee from Oppenheimer & Company, where he supported that firm’s banking efforts throughout the State. He was previously with Estrada Hinojosa and First Southwest. Mr. Carranza is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the National Hispanic Environmental Energy Council and the Association of Latin Professionals in Finance and Accounting. He is fluent in Spanish and English and has certification pending as a Bloomberg Professional.
