Sharon Stark joins Sterne Agee
Birmingham, AL (September 15, 2009) - Sharon Stark joins Sterne Agee’s Fixed Income Division as a Managing Director and will serve as a Fixed Income Strategist.
Mrs. Stark has over 25 years of broad experience in the financial services industry including business strategy development, bank regulation/policy development, and portfolio management/securities trading. Prior to joining Sterne Agee, she served as the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director and COO of the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) on all policy and operational issues designed to achieve the goals and objectives of the OTS. She participated in the development and review of new federal programs to enhance liquidity and expand credit capacity in the U.S. financial system. Mrs. Stark served as the senior OTS spokesperson at domestic/international industry forums on issues of emerging areas of risk and authored the only monthly publication on behalf of the OTS agency. Before that, she spent 12 years at Legg Mason as the Chief Market Strategist for fixed income capital markets and participated in the development and oversight of institutional and retail business lines. She functioned as a spokesperson for the firm in all forms of media with appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and radio, and Reuters. Mrs. Stark also spent five years with the FDIC as Deputy Assistant Director managing the policy and training section of the Office of Capital Markets. Prior to the FDIC, she held Portfolio Management, Trading and Analyst/Research jobs.
She majored in Finance at George Washington University and is conversational fluent in Chinese.
